Wellbeing & Classroom Management

Relationships, consistency and belonging.

My research and placement reflections position classroom management as part of creating a safe, inclusive and academically purposeful learning environment.

Clear Expectations

Consistent routines and expectations reduce uncertainty and support students to understand what productive participation looks like.

Teacher–Student Relationships

Respectful relationships support engagement, willingness to ask for help and a sense of belonging, particularly when students have experienced disadvantage or negative school experiences.

Active Supervision

Teacher movement, checking progress and timely responses can prevent disengagement while enabling feedback and support.

Family Engagement

Communication with families needs to be respectful, culturally responsive and aware that language, work, prior experiences and disadvantage can shape engagement with schools.

Bullying & Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is closely connected with classroom participation. Teachers need to notice social dynamics, respond supportively and contribute to a safe learning culture.

Reflection

I aim to combine proactive classroom structures with relational judgement rather than treating behaviour as separate from learning, wellbeing or context.
