The Mathematical Association of Victoria (MAV) offers mathematics-focused professional learning. Its external perspective complements informal mentor discussion and university study.
My identified need
My March 2024 mentor feedback asks how I would cater for students who understand quickly. I would look for professional learning on worthwhile challenge, extension and mathematical reasoning.
Selection criteria
Check the session’s target year levels, learning goals, facilitator expertise, research basis, resources and opportunities to apply the learning. Select a session only if it responds to an identified learner need.
Planned transfer to practice
Discuss one application with a mentor, prepare an extension prompt and collect student reasoning after a supported trial. Review access, challenge and misconceptions; do not assume attendance itself demonstrates impact.
